More 45's

People seem to be enjoying my funk and soul 45 collection so here are some more.

The Incredible Bongo Band is probably best known for their song Apache that has been sampled a million times and is a breakdancing staple. This 45, Kiburi, has a much different vibe to it. Smoothed out with a rolling rhythm it keeps moving very fluidly. Kinda raunchy like the Chakachas' Jungle Fever but not quite. Heavy percussion as you'd expect.

Heads or Tails

Booker T. and the M.G.'s where formed in the 1960's in Memphis Tennessee and were on the Stax label. Because they were a racially integrated band at that time they had a difficult time booking gigs for both black audiences and white audiences. They are probably best know for Green Onions. This song, Heads or Tails is a personal favorite.

Tramp

Otis Redding and Carla Thomas teamed up for the album King & Queen which I have never heard in it's entirety. This 45, Tramp, has been covered by alot of artists over the years, and this version has a nice drum break in the beginning.

MGs are the illest. I'm big fan of Green Onions too. They always bang out. That Tramp baseline has been sampled like crazy.
